Monroe County, Illinois, Chancery Court Records, Book #1, compiled and indexed by Janet Flynn and Pat Vaseska. This book contains a brief description of each Chancery Court record contained in drawers numbered A-63 thru A-69. However, these records are very confusing. They seem to be in no chronological order. At some point, about 1865 as near as I can determine, the land cases were separated out from the divorce cases. All are scattered about in the cabinets in no kind of order that we can figure out. These cases are fascinating. After reviewing them, we realized all too well that abuse, incest, neglect, etc. are not just modern day incidents and that the women were not always innocent. You may find out that Granny could wield a mean rolling pin! The book contains 45 pages, and 11 pages for the index. See the Publications Page for ordering information. If you would like a copy of the complete file for any case, please contact me or Pat at the P.O. Box or via e-mail: [email protected] and [email protected]. A charge of $10 per case, plus the cost of copying and postage, will be charged. Monroe County, Illinois, Chancery Court Records, Book #2, compiled and indexed by Janet Flynn and Pat Vaseska. This book contains a brief description of each Chancery Court record contained in drawers numbered A-73, A-75 thru A-80. Monroe County, Illinois, Chancery Court Records, Book #3, compiled by Janet Flynn and indexed by Pat Vaseska. This book contains a brief description of each Chancery Court record contained in drawers numbered A-81 thru A-89. Drawers A-70, 71 and 72 have been indexed by Phyllis Veath. She is in the process of indexing A-74.
